Sucker Ghost Craft

What you'll need:

  • Kleenex
  • Sucker
  • White yarn
  • Scissors
  • Black marker

How to make it:

  1. Cut a small length of yarn.
  2. Center the Kleenex over the top of the sucker.
  3. Tie the yarn in a bow right under the sucker.
  4. Draw on eyes and mouth with black marker.
  5. Give as a party favor.

Tips:

Quick and easy is the key to this favorite classroom favor. These make up so fast you can create them for all your trick-or-treaters.

Fun Halloween Finger Puppets Crafts

What you'll need:

  • Patterns (Pattern 1Pattern 2)
  • Construction paper (black, white, orange, green, purple, yellow)
  • Black craft pen or Sharpie marker
  • Scissors
  • White craft glue
  • Hot glue or tape

How to make it:

  1. Print off both sets of patterns.
  2. Cut out the patterns and trace onto construction paper: white for mummy and ghost, black for cat and vampire, orange for pumpkin and green for witch. If you prefer, place the construction paper on the table, place pattern sheet over the top and use a ball point pen to trace the lines on the printed pattern, creating an indent on the construction paper underneath. Cut out finger puppets.
  3. Use a black craft pen to decorate each puppet. Draw wiggly lines across the front of the mummy, draw lines and facial features on the pumpkin, and draw a face on the ghost.
  4. Cut pieces of construction paper out to decorate the witch’s hat and dress, as well as the vampire’s purple face and shirt, and the cat’s yellow eyes. Use white craft glue to stick them on.
  5. Once you are finished decorating the puppets, wrap the bottom square section around your child’s finger for sizing. Remove from finger and hot glue them back together to form the tube.

Ghost Puppet Craft

What you'll need:

  • 6 large craft sticks
  • 1 sheet of white felt
  • White craft glue
  • 12 medium wiggle eyes
  • Colorful craft gem circles or buttons
  • Glittery chenille sticks
  • 1 sheet of black sparkly felt
  • Scissors

How to make it:

  1. Cut out simple ghost bodies from the white felt and glue them to the craft sticks.
  2. Use your imagination to create clothing and accessories such as skirts, vests, bow ties, and hair bows for your ghoul friends. Cut short pieces of chenille stems as crazy hair or as a rim to a top hat.
  3. Glue clothing and accessories to the white felt. Use craft gem circles or buttons to further decorate.
  4. Use black felt for clothing, hair and mustaches.
  5. Glue on wiggle eyes and allow everything to lay flat and dry.
  6. Have a ghoul party!

Tips:

  • Use simple shapes to create clothing. Triangles make wonderful skirts, and rectangles with a triangle cut at the top finishes off the upper part of the dress. Larger triangles can be put together at the points to create bow ties and vests.
  • Use felt or chenille sticks for hair. If you have yarn lying around, this makes great hair as well!
  • Have a puppet show at home by having kids hide behind the couch and provide a show for the rest of the family.

Yummy Mummy Treat Cups

What you'll need:

  • Plastic or paper cups, bathroom sized
  • An old white t-shirt
  • Medium wiggle eyes
  • Felt, any Halloween color
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • White craft glue

How to make it:

  1. Cut a small section from the t-shirt, depending on how many treat cups you will be making. Start with a section about 6” x 6”. Cut that section into strips.
  2. Use the glue stick to line one side of a t-shirt strip, then starting at the bottom of the cup, wrap around and press in place. Repeat until entire cup is covered.
  3. Cut a simple bow from felt. For a “boy” cup, use white craft glue to attach the bow tie to the bottom of the cup. For a “girl” cup, glue the bow to the top of the cup.
  4. Use white craft glue to attach wiggle eyes.
  5. Fill with fun treats!

Tips:

  • Save old t-shirts, blue jeans and even boxer shorts for use in craft projects such as these.
  • Wiggle eyes are available in a large variety of sizes from your local craft supply or discount department store.
  • Due to cottons stretchy nature, strips will cut jagged not straight. This gives your mummy character!

Tin Can Black Cat

What you'll need:

  • Black acrylic paint
  • Empty vegetable can
  • Paintbrush
  • Felt: black, goldenrod, pink, gray, glittery black
  • White craft glue
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun
  • Acrylic sealer spray
  • Pattern

How to make it:

  1. Be sure that vegetable can is clean and dry. If there are any sharp edges at the opening, have an adult smooth those with a little sandpaper first.
  2. Paint outside of can black and set aside to dry.
  3. From goldenrod felt, cut out two almond shapes for eyes using pattern.
  4. From black felt, cut two slits and two eyelids for eyes using pattern.
  5. From pink felt, cut out a nose using pattern.
  6. From gray felt, cut six 4” long thin rectangular strips for whiskers.
  7. From black glitter felt cut out two triangles for ears using pattern.
  8. From remaining black glitter felt, cut enough to line inside of the can.
  9. From plain black felt, cut a strip the length of the felt about 2.5” wide.
  10. When paint on can has dried, spray with acrylic sealer spray and set aside to dry for 10 minutes.
  11. Using white craft glue, line the inside of the can with the black glitter felt.
  12. Using white craft glue, attach eyes, slits, lids, and nose to the front of the can.
  13. Glue the first 2/3 of the whiskers to the can next to the nose, three on each side. Leave the last third of each whisker unglued so that they stick out from the side of the can.
  14. Glue triangle ears to the inside front of the can.
  15. Take your black strip of felt and using the hot glue gun, roll it into a tail and secure with glue. Starting at the back of the can, come around to the front and secure in place with hot glue.

Tips:

  • Adapt this project for any color cat by simply changing the felt color.
  • Fill a cellophane bag with Halloween candy, tie with an orange or black chenille stem and place inside this can for a fun gift.
  • Fill cat can with plastic forks and napkins for a festive table decoration.
